Denny Emerson just posted this article on his facebook page. It gives excellent insight into finding horses that have stamina bred into their lines. http://www.sport-horse-breeder.com/stamina-lines.html It seems like a useful read for anyone interested in either breeding sport Thoroughbreds or finding a good Thoroughbred mare to add to their breeding program.

Thanks for posting this! I don't breed but I'm always interested in learning more. As soon as I saw something about stamina, I immediately think of Princequillo- and of course he's on there. Some of the Northern Dancer lines are very good too.
We bred a Flexible filly in 2012 out of a Mezcalero/TB dam. The filly benefits from the type of breeding strategy discussed in the link. She has, for example, Big Game xx 3 times and Nasrullah xx 6 times back in her pedigree (top and bottom) with ID (Cruising), Dutch (Voltaire), Trak (Marco Polo), Hanoverian (Gotthard), and Holsteiner (Ramiro) closer up. We are thrilled with her as she is leggy, tall, uphill, with quick reflexes and an inquisitive, smart personality.
