    Default eventing pony prospects?

might be going out on a limb here, but does anyone know of a good place to start looking for a SMALL eventing prospect?

I'd prefer something that is w/t/c/started over fences. OK without changes and needing finishing, but don't want to have to install go and brakes.

The key here is small...would like 14-15h. For a competent amateur adult, possibly for a competent kid later on. Does not need potential to be the next Teddy O'Connor-- my aspirations pretty much stop at Training.

I guess I am not up on breeders, etc because I am just not finding a lot. It seems breeders have a lot of weanlings and there are some ponies who are already going and out of my price range.

Hmm. They have one that I really like, but they are 10+ hours from here. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to buy a pony sight unseen.

I also love looking at the CadyoDaly horses for sale. I think it would be well worth a 10 hour trip to see them.

It's not the 10 hour trip for me, it's the then arranging of logistics, bringing a trailer all that way or arranging for shipping, having to stay a few days for vet, etc all adds a lot to the cost and I am shopping in the lower price range, like $4k-$7k. I would have to drop my ready-to-spend figure by like $1500 to make arrangements for shipping, etc which makes it more difficult.

Not trying to sell so vague-There's an awesome one, just had a write up on EN, added on SH. Came in 2nd @ the AEC's. I broke him out & rode for a few yrs.
If it made business sense I'd buy back in a heartbeat.

Equine.com, dreamhorse, etc. Lots of good prospects. I just sold one to a foxhunting home in Virginia. I love having a pony project around, I worked with several last year. Recently I got persuaded into trying an anglo-arab project for the first time so no pony right now.

I don't know anything about this one personally, but have you seen the Connemara advertised in the Area 1 classifieds? Miss Kitty - http://www.area1usea.org/Network/Classifieds/horses.htm

Also consider looking at US Pony Club's Website, go under "News & Media" and then Classifieds/Horses & Ponies for Sale. You don't have to be a member to browse or reply to ads (actually I don't even think you have to be a member to post ads, or at least you didn't have to be in the past). The only annoying thing is they're not organized in any way, you just have to sift through). But with so many kids, there are bound to be many equines of the shorter variety.
