Default Custom Boot Design - WWYD?

How would you choose to design a new pair of custom show boots if given the option? Traditional all leather? Patent tops? Toes? Coloured piping!! What about the risk of all these fun options being out of style next season?

The choices seem endless these days.

Obviously something colourful and flashy wouldn't go in the hunter ring - but I've seen plenty of hunter riders with patent tops and toes.

    Thoughts?

I got a pair of customs last year and went completely traditional. Nothing fancy about them, but they're beautiful and fit perfectly!

I did croc trim on my custom field boots. Adds a bit of personality to them without being overly flashy or loud. The trim is really only visible up close.

My dress boots have patent trim on them, for the same reason. Not visible from more than a couple feet away, but a nice detail up close.

Dress boots, square toe and that's it.

I would do field boots with a square toe super high spanish tops monogrammed swagger tabs (I know tucci does this) I think that would be all but I might add one piece of odd leather if it was subtle enough. I would make it medium stiffness leather all around with a soft leather panel on the inside leg for grip

Perhaps traditional is the way to go, I suppose it's always a safe bet.

That said, I do love the look of these: http://www.dogwoodlondon.co.uk/de-ni...ding-boot.html

I did square toes with a subtle floral punch pattern, traditional leather, stitched down "swagger tab" and reinforced calf patch. Toes give me extra wiggle room and look great without being too "out there". They look fantastic when I look at myself in the mirrors while riding! Hee hee!

My dream boots have a square toe, croc trim, and monogrammed swagger tabs. Should only cost me an arm and two legs...

Mine would be super soft black field boots with a square toe, punched floral toe, monogrammed swag tab, really slim fitting through the ankle and a super high Spanish top and a Swarovski crystal inlaid on the corner of the plate with the monogram and a monogrammed sole. I'm a little obsessed with monograms.
