Default Where to find Appaloosa (or Appy Cross) for jumping

Looking for another Appy/Appy/cross jumper. I've been searching and they're hard to find. I see a lot of websites out there, but plenty of them are outdated. Any ideas? I'm not looking for a made horse, but something reasonable I can bring along.

There was one on facebook under Michigan Hunter Jumpers for sale a while back. She was cute. It was posted the end of November so not sure if she is still available. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Reedhill Farms is breeding her appy stallion to some of her tb mares this year.

Thanks, Derby Lyn. I'm right around the corner from RHF. I'll check that out, too. Not ready for a baby, but for future reference!

We had one that we sold a few years ago that was pretty awesome. We bought him as a yearling and had him started by our WP trainer and then I took over with jumping... He was so cool!

    Love appies!

I noticed that "Team CEO Eventing" has had some Wap-appaloosas for sale

    (I have no affilation)

I do have my own jumping App! I found her on Dreamhorse (as a weanling though!). I would periodically search online classifieds for decedents of Chocklate Confetti (which my girl is) or JG's Wap's

You want a Wap baby! The saying goes that an App that wants to jump is unbeatable, but an App that doesn't want to jump, you shouldn't try. JG's Wap babies seem to really want to. I know Virginia Hood passed away several years ago and I'm not sure what ended up happening with their stock, but Wap Spot is a name to look for.

Do you want an Appaloosa or just spots? Sadly, it seems the majority of the appies have been turned into spotted (or non-spotted) QH copies. Big bodied, heavy on the forehand, etc. Not what you would want for a jumper of any substance.

I did a search on Dream Horse and it's kind of pathetic. You'd be looking at a lot of re-training as most of them have been AQHA'd out and look like they are 90% dead and can't pick their nose up off the ground.

If you just want spots, look to Knabstruppers. You might find some of the appropriate kind of athleticism you are looking for amoung them.

Well, the reason I am looking for an Ap is because I currently have an Appy/Trakehner cross that I love. http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/x...p/DSCF0152.jpg, http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/x...ump/photo6.jpg. He's just a super horse to work with. So I guess I'm looking for his attitude and athleticism. Spots are a bonus, but I'm not against a solid Ap if it's the right horse.

I will check the bloodlines mentioned, and I'll definitely check the Knabstruppers as well. They're just hard to find online.

    Thanks, all.

I almost bought an Appaloosa last year. I had watched him jump around our shows all summer and he was a really cute jumper with a terrific heart. Unfortunately, he wasn't quite the right fit for my style of riding, so I passed on him.

He was by Broadway Boogie-Woogie. I know nothing else about the sire and I haven't seen any others by him, but he certainly looks the part.

At one time we had 4 appy's in our barn that were all granddaughters or grandsons of Colida (all from the same breeder). Boy, could they jump! My old mare (one of the granddaughter's) was a foxhunter extroidenairre and could outrun & outstay all of the TB's in the hunt field! I still drive by the breeder's farm, and see all of his aged stock just standing around his fields. He was a western/trail-rider and never appreciated how athletic his horses were. We should've bought every horse he had about 20 years ago.

If you don't pick up one of Team CEO's Wap babies I might have to figure something out... really like them both!

My first horse was an appy cross and he taught me more than any other horse or any trainer could have. Would not hesitate to own another, especially with TB blood.
I've heard there's more to life than an FEI tent and hotel rooms, so I'm trying it.

FleckenAwesome has a very nice youngster. He's got Wap lines, and is out of an ISH mare. He is turning into something quite special. I think she got him from Rugby Hill (I think). You should PM her for ideas on where to look. She purposely sought out a baby (bought him at 10 days old), but may know of places to look.

This breeding, although quite old, is AMAZING.....

    http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/apache+cat+k

I had an Apache Cat K colt and he lived until he was 40 years old. He would jump the moon. If you research the racing appys you can probably find something amazing too.
