I also appreciated her comments. Once I was walking my mare around a show grounds after our test and she and her scribe walked by. Lucy said "Oh look, there's that happy mare"

Does she have an email address and can che get email in rehab?

Lucy is coming home tomorrow! We took her home this afternoon for an evaluation with one of the physical therapists. She passed with flying colors!!! She is SO ready to get home to her kitties who were a bit stunned by the short visit today.

Yes, I LOVE LUCY, too! My favorite eventing dressage judge and she knows me as the one always looking down during the test, just enjoying seeing my horse! I'm so sorry to hear about her lungs but happy to hear she's on the mend and giving everyone hell or reasons to laugh! Jingling for you, Ms. Eddins!

Yes, Lucy passed away this afternoon. So very sad. I'm sure those closest to her will give us more details when they have a chance.

Lucy passed away peacefully today surrounded by five of the people she cared the most about and who all loved her deeply. I know there are some tentative plans for a memorial service, but I am sure that when things get finalized the word will be put out.

I loved Lucy, loved hiring her, loved chatting with her. She was one in a million. I choose to remember her from the photograph that appeared in the Area II Adult Rider's calendar a few years ago. Lucy was Miss May and that photo was SO Lucy!

Godspeed my friend, we will meet again one day.

I first met Lucy a long time ago when I was a teenager working in a boarding kennel. We were always so impressed with her deep love of her animals.

Over the years I got to see her at shows. She was such a kind and gentle person (not to mention her wonderful sense of humor).

    She will be very missed

She was such a wonderful judge. Even if she was giving a competotor a lousy score, she would take a few minutes to motivate and inspire them with things to work on, and give them the confidence that they could do much better. Everyone always rode off smiling. I remember her attitude when the powers that be tried to stop judges from talking to the competitors... yeah, that was not gonna happen I made sure to schedule her with the time, and everyone was thrilled with her.

    She will be greatly missed.

I remember several years ago doing a schooling dressage show her. There was a lunch break that was a potluck and she sat and shared all sorts of wisdom with us. One in particular I use/share all the time is, "Look where you're going and you'll go where you're looking."

She really was one of a kind. Rest in peace.

Here is a link to Lucy's Obituary. If you are Virginia Horse Trials next month, please join us at "A" after dressage on Saturday evening for a few moments of reflection, music and of course a party afterwards!

What a wonderful tribute! She regularly judged there; I hope she gets a nice turnout for the remembrance of her life and contributions to the sport. SO many competitors loved her--she would have loved a party in her honor!

    RIP, dear Lucy
