RIP Area II Eventing Dressage Judge Lucy Eddins (was "in hospital")
I just received this email- I do not know any additional details.
Many jingles for a quick recovery.
Lucy Eddins, who many of us know well as a dressage judge, is in the Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was admitted last night with pneumonia. Lucy has struggled with emphysema for several years.
Please pray for Lucy's speedy recovery.
And thank you to Whitney Digney for helping her get into the hospital and receive the care that she needs.

Lucy is a dear friend, and this originated with me. I was on the phone with the friends who took her to the ER and then helped her get settled in.
Saturday is Lucy's birthday.
If you know Lucy and wish to send a card, the address is:
Martha Jefferson Hospital
500 Martha Jefferson Drive

Thank you Ann for posting the specifics. Lucy has been a beloved dressage judge, both pure dressage and eventing, in the mid-Atlantic for a very long time. She retired from judging recognized competitions just a few years ago. She always has something positive to say, both as a dressage judge and in general, and she's a great supporter of beginning competitors. I doubt there are many people competing on in the VA area who haven't ridden in front of Lucy at one time or another.
Let's all please send healing thoughts her way!

PS: I just spoke to her in hospital. She sounds in good spirits, and they are getting her feeling better. We had to cut the conversation short as a handsome respiratory therapist came into her room :->>

Yes, but she'll be in the hospital for her BIRTHDAY! (Ann, is it 80 or 81?)
Let's see, Lucy might like
Flowers - sure
Candy - not so much
Cards - YES, as many as possible :->
E-cards - as above,

yvonne, so you mean no flowers? Or maybe a small flower arrangement??? Or just send cards only?
And think it's 81, I seem to recall her mention that she was 80 in 2012....

Lucy is 81 today. Cards and flowers are good....Best gift though would be a Barnes and Noble Gift card for her Nook. Candy isn't forbidden....but again can have only so much.
Lucy has a wicked sense of humor and at 81 has....ummm.... caused quite a few of the physicians/nurses/staff at the hospital to blush...... She left a memorable impression on quite a few staff after her hospitalization in January....it didn't take long for word to travel that she had been admitted on Thursday night. She had many visitors yesterday checking on her!
Will keep everyone updated on her progress over the next few days.

I went to see Lucy today and Whitney, Jenni Johnson and I were there for quite awhile. Lucy was in good spirits and we ate chocolate and laughed for a good part of the afternoon. She was pleased to hear that people are rooting for her quick recovery. Whitney has been amazing.
So continued prayers for our Lucy are most appreciated.

I'm not sure if Lucy would know who I am, but I'm thinking of her! Have appreciated the feedback I've gotten from her on several tests, and have a strong impression of her as a sensible sane person, which are qualities I appreciate hugely in people generally and event officials in particular!

Hi all-

Lucy was transferred to HealthSouth Rehab Hospital in Charlottesville this afternoon. She is in good spirits and looking forward (kinda) to working hard over the next few weeks to regain her strength and get home to her kitties.
