My horse had sinus flap surgery two weeks ago. Her face was bandaged for most of the time. They took off the bandages a couple of days before she came home. And that's when I saw the ulceration on her cheek (jowl?). After the surgery she had a tube in that area so the vet could keep flushing the sinuses for the two weeks she was at the vets.
She came home two days ago. It looked as if the vet had removed a lot of the ulceration and the area looked good. Yesterday, though, it looked as if it wanted to get bad again. What can I apply to it to keep the proud flesh minimal? It's near the eye area so I have to be careful. It looked as if the vet had sprayed some Alushield (sp?) on it. Everyone's advice would be appreciated.
