I would *think* HRTV would have boots on the ground there, no?

While you'd think in 2013 a stringer could be pressed into duty to attend, shoot video and stream that back to the studio in LA (they, like TVG, are West Coast production based) but very doubtful.

I'm sure Alicia Wincze Hughes, who is the turf writer for the Lexington Herald-Leader, will be there.

Maybe this will help bring the Jockey Club closer to allowing ET, if only for megastars like Rachel A., and only by special dispensation from the Pope, I mean the JC.

Banke: filly looks great, running around, adjusting to nurse mare. Probably turned out tomorrow. Adjustment going well.

Prayers for a full recovery. Future breeding is not important at this time. We all just want Rachel to be ok..

But where is the nurse mare's foal? I would definitely chip in to make sure he/she was in good hands.

Banke: Rachel looks brighter today, so that makes me happy. It's a day-by-day, hour-by-hour thing, so it's very serious.

Stonestreet's a class operation - surely they'll make sure the nurse mare's baby is cared for.

Vet question based on the Blood Horse story here:
    http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...paign=20130214

It sounds as if she's got a serious abdominal infection. I can understand why that would be if she's torn something, but how would a "mere" bruised small colon infect the abdomen?

Second question: Who is Barbara Banke? How is she connected to Jess Jackson?

It sounds as if the damaged section had become necrotic..

The surgery was to determine the cause of excess fluid in her abdominal cavity, denoting an infection.

Surgery identified that the cause of the infection was a section of the small colon that had lost its blood supply due to an injury during foaling causing bacteria to be released into the abdomen.
