WOW he really has quite a lot of presence, doesn't he?!!!
Had a couple of really long lay offs though.

Exactly what I would say too.. I'm a sucker for bays with minimal markings.. Too bad there isn't an extra 3500 in my pocket!

That's a really nice-looking horse, lovely balance to him and he's well-enough proportioned that he sure doesn't look super-sized.
For those without Equibase, he raced 31 times from August 2006 (his 2YO year) to 9/1/12. Of concern- in his race in 12/11, he led until dropping back suddenly to trail the field, leading me to think he came out of that race with an injury. He went back to the races in August '12 for his last two starts, in which he led then dropped back.
So- vet check if you're interested. He was last running in $4k claimers, so asking $3500 for him looks high, since he wasn't paying his way at the track any more.

interesting.
I don't like him at all.
His butt is weak and his hocks are high. And I really disliked the Arab look. That was funny, I thought "geez he looks like an Arab" and then they actually reference it in his description.
He's def not my type but hopefully someone will buy him and enjoy him!

Part of what you are seeing may be the unflattering incline he is standing on.. also the fact that the camera has his butt closer than the rest of him. It is not a flattering picture of him at all, but I like the video. Part of why his hocks are so high is probably because he is over 17 hh - make no mistake, his cannons are long - but I find he looks proportionate to me.
I don't think his butt is weak at all - I think that once he is in some real work (and I don't mean that racing isn't real work - just ROUNDED work) he will fill out nicely behind.
I like how clean his legs are, particularly. For an 11 year old, they look great.

Lamb, do you think he was a bleeder? That could explain performance too.

I do not think bleeding would account for the 8 months off.

Definitely something worth asking the trainer either way.

It looks like he raced on Lasix throughout his career, as did most of his competitors. I'd be looking more toward a structural injury.

I think he looks very fancy. Would love to see better conformation shots. Not that I'm looking!

From the CANTER ad: "He is being retired sound with no previous injuries and has nice clean legs."
I would definitely be asking why he had such a long vacation if he has no previous injuries and clean legs.
He's not really my type, conformationally, but seems like a decent sort nonetheless.

Saw him on the website and loved him, but he's an uncut 11 year old. Those two things would turn me off of him.

Also not my type; but not everyone liked my OTTB when she was posted here either. Good luck to the new owner.

Ugh, you're right. And I'm an engineer grad. Facepalm. I swear I calculated it at 9 years when I first saw him, got it mixed up just now.
My inner blonde is coming out. I think I'm just moaning because my own horse is now 11. (When did that happen?!)
Regardless, 9 and uncut is still a dealbreaker for me. I like to look at the 3 and 4 year olds and imagine playing with them on the ground and trails for a year.

That must be directed at me.. I could have sworn it said somewhere he was 11. My bad *eyeroll*
I guess I should curb the amount of horses I look at on Canter because it makes them all blend together.. But it's so much fun to eyeball!
