Default Spinoff: Guess My Breed [Are you smarter than a wisdom panel?]

So there is a thread going right now about DNA tests in dogs. Well, my mom and I were curious about what the results would be (not that they affect our love for our recently adopted mutt!).

Anyway, the results for Fergie came back tonight- any guesses as to what the DNA said? (her name is a link to a picture FYI)

Details on the dog as far as behavior/physical attributes go: She's about 55lb, solid muscle, extremely short coat, LOVES other dogs, couldn't care less about fetch/balls, and loves tug-of-war. She's very high-energy but also displays an intense amount of focus whenever there is food involved. She barks when strangers are at the door, and yowls/whines when she wants to go out or wants attention. She's good with the cat that doesn't run away, but likes to play "tag" with the other one (he's not so keen on that- but she's never gotten aggressive about it).

The wisdom panel named two predominant breeds, but said that each parent was likely a mix of the breed named.

I'll post the answer sometime Friday or Saturday, after people who have had a chance to guess.

    I'll guess!

    The two predominant breeds:

    1) AmStaff or Staffordshire Terrier

    2) Bull Terrier (white or colored)

    maybe some Boxer

Some sort of bully (AmStaff?) x pointer.

Great guesses everyone! Most of yours are in line what I think she is. My personal opinion/that of our vet is that she is a bully breed (boxer? pit bull? amstaff? all 3?) crossed with a hound/beagle type.

The DNA result confirmed one of our suspicions- one of her parents is listed as an AmStaff (not pure, but a predominantly AmStaff mutt, I guess). The second parent it lists is also a mix, but according to the test primarily [swallow all beverages and put down fragile objects before continuing]...

    LHASA APSO.

Yeah, let that sink in a minute.

I almost fell off my bed laughing when I saw it, because it's so ridiculous.

But then, I got to thinking. She does her little doggie yoga routine every morning which includes deep breathing [yawns/yowls], and alternates between downward facing dog and upward facing dog. What better dog to be a little yogi than a breed that was created in buddhist monasteries?

All joking aside, I've now confirmed that Fergie is at least half "mutt thing that has a lot of random common markers with Lhasa Apsos" and the other half is probably American Staffordshire-ish. I'm glad it wasn't my money that bought the test...
