Hello,

I own a 3.9 years old stallion by Casall. He has a nice type and good conformation, but I feel he needs to develop more, specially in the croup and buttock and maybe add more size (he is currently at 1.64cm). He has been under saddle for about 2 months and keeping the training calm and slow.

My question is, does the Casalls tend to develop a little later and grow slower? Was Casall a late bloomer himself in conformation?
Or is my horse a little behind in development?

Anyone has any experience or information? Comments will be greatly appreciated!

I think a coming 4 y.o. shouldn't look fully mature. Plus he only has 2 months under saddle. He looks pretty normal to me...

I understand they don't get that big. Yours looks like he has good substance to him. He looks fairly mature. I'd guess he will get a little taller.

We have Dakota VDL who is a superb example of his father Casall. Not big but very well built, powerful and careful. He is 5 this year and I also have a Casall daughter who is 6. Yes they take some time!


Casall is producing top offspring and they are very hard to come by so consider yourself lucky to have one. Take your time in his development, the great ones always need time. Use him lightly in the beginning and choose your shows wisely. This one you have seems to be a very nice type and built much the same as Dakota.

Do you have any free jumping video of your guy? Interested to see more.

We are taking his training slowly and hopefully he will be doing the young horse circuit at 5.
He is a very easy and sweet horse, specially for such a young stallion. Are your Casalls the same? Such uncomplicated mind.

I saw at least 25 Casalls in Germany and Holland a few weeks ago - so not super experienced, but enough to form an opinion. They ranged from 16h to 17+, with most being in the middle of that, but even the big ones were not particularly heavy horses....not that the smaller ones were light. However, that being said, the Casall sons were a bit varied - Clarcon is a pretty different horse than the Cascadello brothers or Count Ebony.
Hyperion nailed it with "well built and powerful"....and I would add but not heavy or clunky, if that makes sense. I consistently really liked them.

Thank you Krallen! My horse is Casall x Chiquitin LS x Voltaire x Notaris. Chiquitin LS is a Chin Chin x Pilot approved KWPN stallion who won the most promising stallion jumping award under Jeroem Dubbeldam.
