Default Spin-off: Cooking tricks you love.

This Christmas I tried roasting a turkey with the cavity filled with oranges. (After rubbing it with olive oil and spices.) OMG - it was so moist and good! Said it was the best turkey he had ever had (and I have not been known for my turkeys prior this - hence the research and experiment.)

For an awesome gluten free dinner- I have been making Pavlova to rave reviews. Super easy (make sure you let it cool in the oven though for a few hours before serving.)

I'm learning and branching out- so I'd love to hear your favorites!

To cut the sliminess of okra, boil adding a few drops of vinegar to the pot and it will cook dry and wonderful to be added to gumbo, rice or salads.

I've started substituting coconut oil for butter or other oils in many of my recipes, SO good. You can't really taste the coconut but it seems to add a sweeter taste to things, better than butter. AND it's much healthier for you! Also throwing some sour cream, cream cheese or yogurt into many things can make a good recipe great.
