    Default Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise?

I grew up with Miracle Whip or rather I avoided it because I just didn't like the taste of it. Mom only purchased Miracle Whip when i was growing up so I didn't know about mayonnaise until I was in my mid-teens. I think mayonnaise is much better. To this day my mom still will ask if I want Miracle Whip on my sandwich and I'm 53. No thanks, Mom, I still don't like it.

So how about you? Do you prefer Miracle Whip or mayonnaise?

It depends on what kind of sandwich I am eating. If I add it to grilled cheese, Miracle Whip all the way. If I am eating ham and cheese, Hellman's. Bologna sandwich, usually Miracle Whip. Roast beef, Hellman's.

And it has to be specifically Hellman's Mayo.

Mayo--preferably real, full fat and calories. If possible, homemade--a positively wonderful experience! However, I compromise with a canola reduced fat version...sigh...I hate getting old and fat!!

I can't stand Miracle Whip or anything (like deviled eggs) made with the stuff. To me it tastes sweet.

What bugs me the most about Miracle Whip is calling it "salad dressing". I consider salad dressing to something like Italian, Blue Cheese, French, Thousand Island, etc....

I used to CRAVE MW, but something happened, and all of a sudden it tasted gross....not sure what changed.

Now my fav mayo is Dukes...no sugar in it....wish there was no soybean, but the mayo without soy is too expensive...

    Mayo!
    Home made or Hellman's/BestFoods.

    Absolutely loathe Miracle Whip.

I grew up with Mayo and butter. As a kid I never had margarine or Miracle Whip unless someone else's mom used it and I was visiting. I found the flavor (of both of them) very strange.

Grew up on MW when I didn't have a choice; now it's mayo all the way.

Very intrigued with this Duke's mayo... hint hint.

    miracle whip on sandwiches. hmmmm
    I can't say I find it sweet. I actually think it's a bit tangy...

Other than that I use both with abandon.
I make killer dipping sauces that contain mayo, MW, yogurt and sour cream...and no...only the yogurt is low fat, because the big tubs come that way....

Miracle whip for blt, potato salad and deviled eggs, Hellman's for everything else. And yes, has to be hellmans, although I've never tried (or even heard of) dukes.

I believe they call it salad dressing since it does not meet the definition of mayonnaise.

Miracle Whip is another one of those danged sugar filled foods. Way too sweet for me. Homemade mayonnaise or Dukes. Hellman's is third.

BTW, do not even try the Dukes Light. It's disgusting.

There is mayonnaise other than Hellmans??? Not in my world

One of my childhood friend's mother always made bologna sandwiches with Miracle Whip. Took me YEARS to figure out that I liked bologna, it was the Miracle Whip that was just nasty.

No wonder I never heard of Duke's Mayo. It's not available in NY.

My mom only bought MW but we called it mayo. When I married my DH was a mayo only man. It was to much trouble to buy both, they didn't get eaten that fast. I quickly became converted to mayo since I didn't really care. The funny thing was, one of my children when she left home discovered MW and really liked it.

Mayo all the way. I think Miracle Whip is gross. I can't even stand the smell of it.

Do they have Blue Plate Mayonnaise outside the Deep South?

In fact, has anyone else ever heard of The Mayonnaise Line? It's sort of like the Iced Tea Line.
