Default So.. Did anyone Attend The "Dressage Summit" in Wellington?

Was the experience of watching Linda Parelli, Klaus Balkenhol, et al , "teaching" together as surreal as it sounded ?

Perhaps no one showed up but the Parelli fans?

Surely someone went because of a morbid curiousity..

I'm also curious to hear feedback from someone who attended. Certainly a lot of respected trainers in the mix besides the Parellis. If it were close by and not obscenely expensive I would have gone just to see the greats. The videos that I've caught have just been short clips.

My daughter's trainer went. I know she's not a Parelli fan nor is she a fan of any of these cult-like training methods. She is pretty classical in her approach. That said, she said it was very good so I'm assuming that the Parellis weren't a big part of it.

It is just further proof that giant knee blocks and a really nice horse can fool some people... Some.

I think it needs a bit more "game of bending" or "game of dressage lessons that get you to a point where you are able to have a horse on the bit correctly and gain your own record/medals/credentials before trying to teach anyone else this game game"

    Just a thought!

Can it get any more bizarre?

Here is a hot horse they labled

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php...type=3&theater

After watching this and the Charles de Kunffy vid I was wondering if it was a competition of who has the longest reins?

It is sad to see so many posting on there that they are new to dressage and instead of investing in a good local coach to work intimately with and actually learn the hard grit of our sport they spend all of this cash being taught "games" and wonder why their TB wants to kill them when Linda's billion dollar WB puts up with her fiddling hands?

    So so sad.

After watching or trying to watch LP riding in that video...maybe she should take some riding lessons. Collapsed hips, cocked ankles, semi-chair seat, and erratic "contact...er..feel" lol...lovely..and the comments are priceless. Oy vey.
