After almost 2 years of unemployment, and this past 12 months spent going back to school, it has paid off (literally!)
Graduated last month Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Medical Billing & Coding, and got the final call today after all the pre-employment checks. I start with orientation tomorrow, whew! Turned down the first job offer (no benefits, part time hours & an insulting starting salary). Turned down another interview with BCBS (also low pay among other things)while awaiting results for this one. Got the benefits, pay, etc that I was holding out for, and keeping fingers X'ed that I made the right decision.
I know there are alot of us out there right now in the same boat. The job market sucks, big time. I would have finished my commerical flight training instead since the demand for pilots is up, but hubby was not keen on me having to move temporarily for a couple of months to do so & leave him with a toddler. So medical field it was (for now).
For those job searching, stay positive. It's been a hard two years, and I am thankful for the support given to me by my family (especially my mom, who has also battled breast cancer since October & recently completed treatments) Here's to a better 2013....
