House of Cards
So.....House of Cards on Netflix, starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. Anyone else loving it?

Watched it all last weekend. It was addictive. I like how the script is different from the original BBC version (also quite good).

Shucks. I thought we were going to discuss the government's out-of-control spending.

OK - quick question for those who have seen it. From Kevin Spacey's interview on NPR, I gathered that the first episode is a bit, er, unpleasant for those who like animals. True? Not true? Doable for someone a bit squeamish?

Without going into too much detail, they don't 'show' anything. It is sad, but I was able to get through it. It certainly wasn't as bad as the scene were the horse got 'eaten' in Walking Dead.
If you want more information and specifics, send me a pm.

Hated to love it? If that makes any sense. I was very intrigued by it, watched the whole season within a few days and really got into the show..hated the parts where you felt like all the wheeling and dealing was so real and so part of every day.
I would like to see another season, that's for sure.

GotSpots, there is a scene where Kevin Spacey's character dispatches a dog that was hit by a car. I thought it was tastefully done with the focus on Kevin Spacey and his reaction, not the animal. There aren't many animals in the series, unless you count the political ones. It is very well done, very funny in parts, and very accurate....except for that fact they always find nearby parking which only happens in the movies. The reality of DC is a bit different.

Cool, thanks Ironwood! That's the reference to which I was referring - couldn't tell from the NPR interview how gratuitous/gory it was.

Thanks for the tip. The original BBC series and the sequels starring Ian Richardson were excellent.

I'm working my way slowly through it. I loved the original BBC series but have to hand it to Netflix, this version is equally worthy.
