Arabian breeders: Furno Khamal?
What do you think of Furno Khamal as a sport horse sire? He is said to have been 16.2H. I am looking at a daughter of his tomorrow.

He was a pretty cool horse. Long legs. Could be a very nice daughter, and his bloodlines are quite good..a lot of Nazeer and double Priboj (who is good to have in a sport horse). Hope she's nice!

This could get me shot in certain circles, but "a lot of Nazeer" is not necessarily what one wants in a sport horse. Make sure you like the legs, feet, and hindquarter angulation. (I never saw Furno Khamal in person, so this comment isn't specific to him as a sire.)

I was referring to Priboj as being good sport horse blood.

I owned a *Furno khamal daughter. She was a lovely mare with a SI injury that made only pasture sound after a trailering accident. She didn't have perfect legs, but had been born significantly windswept. She was big (15.2h), solid mare with a very pretty head. She had a lovely temperment, but like many russian bred arabians, would not pity fools and was an alpha mare. I sold her back to her breeder after I stopped breeding. I would have been happy to keep her as a pasture pet for the rest of her life, but she sure did have some nice big foals. She needed to be bred to a stallion with a good hip, and well shaped neck.
Many of her siblings and related foals have gone on to do very well at SHN and main ring events.

I'm pretty certain he was a SCID carrier, so if you were getting her for breeding to other Arabians or Trakehners - something to keep in mind.

My mare was a SCID carrier, but her dam line was Tornado and Silver Drift, which are both well known for being carriers.

I visited the Michigan farm and saw him in about 2000. He was an impressive, very large Arabian. There were nice babies, but I really didn't know enough to truly evaluate. I hope the mare you're seeing is nice. How tall is she?

I owned a FK daughter and currently own a gelding out of her. Both are 15.2h. The mare had a slight club foot, but a great disposition and type. The breeder bought her back from me as she is a full sister to their best mare. I have never heard that he was a SCID carrier. Here is a video of my FK daughter:

Below are photos of her 4 year old gelding.

This is the mare http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/khaloe
She is listed as free on craigslist. I went and saw her today. She is on the smaller side, maybe 15.1h

I googled her name and she was a rescue several years ago, and a giveaway in 2009 with a comment about Kissing Spine.

She said she had a problem with her withers or back. Is kissing spine hereditary?
