    Default replacement for PERT shampoo?

I have used PERT combined Shampoo and conditioner (for oily /fine hair) for years. When it got hard to find, I stockpiled a supply. But now I am on my penultimate bottle, with no known source for more.

I tried a couple of other shampoos and hated them.

Any suggestion for something that works for fine hair?

I believe Pert became Suave here in Canada.

No suggestions I can give, but extra points for the use of penultimate. I'm going to try to slip that into a sentence today... :-)

I found out the hard way that shampoo eventually goes bad. So if they really stop producing your brand, then go ahead and buy some, but don't buy so much you can't use it in a year or two.

Sometimes if you ask the store why they stopped carrying it they will reorder it again. I used Pert a long time ago and then when I tried it again last year, I didn't like it. I have been using Tresemme' and both my daughter and I like the 2 in 1 they have and it is cheaper than Pert.

Step one is to step away from the shampoo bottle. It will be rough, but your hair will thank you for it. I rinse my hair thoroughly on a daily basis before conditioning but haven't used shampoo for almost two decades. I have fine hair and swear by the volumizing conditioner from the body shop. It is silicone and was free, so again there may be an adjustment. My hairdresser raves about the condition of my hair. I get so few split ends that I usually only need a trim every 6 months.

DH uses Pert and hasn't had any trouble finding it. Do y'all have Food Lion grocery stores where you live? They're apparently still stocking it.

I just saw it in a Kroger's owed grocery store the other day.

Try Finesse 2 in 1, in the dark blue bottle.
Works fine for me, even better than Pert.

Just a heads up. My sister is a hair dresser - she says Pert is a horrible product. It's basically detergent and really bad for your hair and scalp.

Because of this thread, I noticed bottles of Pert at the Publix today. The bottle looked different than it used to, but I picked it up and it is still "Shampoo and Conditioner."

Honestly, I think you will have better luck NOT using a cheap drugstore shampoo/conditioner product anymore. Most are very harsh on hair. Look at the baking soda/vinegar thread. It WORKS, I promise!

Find out who manufactured Pert, and try other products from them. I don't think they do anything different with formulas, except rename and repackage them. And look at the ingredients, and the order they are listed in, and I bet you'll find something with the similar proportions and ingredients.

I just got a big bottle of Pert Plus last night at Walmart for $3 or $4. I don't use it all the time, but a few times a month. It may not be the greatest product, but it leaves my hair softer than any other shampoo ever, even with a separate conditioner. My hairdresser said it's not good either, but that was right before she tried to sell me some stuff for about $15 a bottle, so...

I think everyone just has to try different products until they find what works for them. The one I truly loved was Lustre Creme, the pink stuff. Unfortunately, I bought it on close out, and that was the end of that. Through the years I've switched many times, because of water quality and hardness, my particular needs, and sometimes because they discontinued my brand. I hate it when they discontinue a product line, and then reintroduce a similar one for a lot more money.

    Crisis verted (I hope)!

Yesterday, in Giant, I found Pert agin. Slightly different product line ("oily" and "fine hair" are now two sparate products). Hoepfully on or the other will work for me.

Oh, so glad for you - seriously! I was wondering, the way this thread started, what I was going to wash my horse with.

I learned from a little Pony Clubber to use it. When I told her that her pony felt so nice, she smiled and said she used Pert Pluth.
