    Question Help please, advice needed!

I am a NZ based rider looking to buy some rugs through some US websites as it is MUCH cheaper, the problem is that US rug sizing is different to NZ sizing.

My 16HH TB would usually wear a NZ 5 foot or an international 6'3 which I think would be a US 75, but I am not sure. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this?

i would think a 78 would be better for a typical 16 hh TB.

US sizes are in inches, from center of chest to the tail - maybe measure then use a conveter to inches?

75 could work for a small TB. My 16.2 hand TB cross wears an 81 (but she is a pretty long horse), most of the TBs I know wear around a 78.

The size (70, 75, 81, etc.) is inches from center of chest to edge of tail. So a "75" is 75 inches, or 6 feet, 3 inches.

Yes, in the US we go by inches, and its inches to the foot, so a 6'3" blanket is 75".

You just saved me a trip to the barn to check my sizing list.!
Some riders change their horse, they change their saddle, they change their teacher; they never change themselves.

What about shipping charges? Will you really save money?

Even with shipping the prices are much cheaper, and the product range is far greater. NZ is such a small and isolated country, things can be expensive and the population doesn't support the range.

As a fellow NZer who also likes to buy internationally, can I ask how you ship? I've only bought smaller items (boots, breeches etc) as I thought covers (at least winter ones) would be too expensive to ship.

    EXCEPT when you don't

Bucas recommends that the horse be measured from (A) the centre point of the chest, over the high point of the shoulder, and then to (B) the rear of the hind leg.
Horseware Ireland actually measures the same - which is why for the US site, you measure to the edge of the tail, then subtract 4 inches to get the appropriate blanket size listed in a rug chart.
