That "internship" is in a three-horse barn! That's not even a stable! It's just somebody with horses in the backyard!

The same thing is done here in Oregon where the Dept of Labor figured out a few years back that BOs were using employees and not paying workman's comp and other taxes for them.

Lots of bartering for board going on. But one place has even described their position as a "working student" thing. That's right, friends at home, you primarily muck, feed, water and turn in/out.

I recently started riding a similar horse for a lady near me. Same deal.... and holy mole, someone without a clue was going to get killed!

The text in this ad reads: "very calm and gental horse had been used to lead kids around on will trail ride but knows nothing but willing to learn loads goods good with her feet no kick or buck call..."

At least this person states that the horse (8 year old QH Mare) knows nothing. My friend told me that they had ridden the horse. "Riding," it turns out, amounts to a guy sitting on the horse, maybe posing with a kid on the horse for a photo op.

No buck or rear indeed. How would they know?

I missed out on a like-new Pessoa saddle by mere minutes that was sold for 450.00. She didn't even list the brand name in the ad, but I could see the "brand" on the picture. And the buyer was a new rider and probably didn't know much about the great deal she had just gotten. Sigh. But I did snap up a Mattes half pad, like-new, for 20 bucks!
