Default Horsey Bucket List - All Disciplines

The retirement threads got me thinking...if money were no object, and you could go anywhere in the world, what horsey events or things would you go see or do?

Since I ride an Arab, about the only thing I've got left is to do Scottsdale. Maybe go to Tevis, not to compete, but just to see what it's all about. I've been to WEG in 2010, am fortunate to be able to go in 2014 as well.

Sooo, what else? Let's have some fun on this wintry day!

I have one thing on my horse bucket list- compete in the Tevis Cup.

I would love to ride all different places. I've done Wyoming, CA, and Vermont. I loved them all, but I want to do more, more, more!! I'd be happy with just riding in all of the USA, but of course, I'd love riding in other Countries too.

Unfortunately, money and lack of good barn help holds me back. When you have to pay $$$ for good barn help, it seriously puts a limit on how far/ how long you can go.

Thankfully, I do have great trail riding here in my backyard. and a great mare to do it on. It eases the pain somewhat

    In no particular order:

    Attend Rolex ****
Go packing in the Bob Marshall wilderness
Compete at Prelim level eventing without embarrassing myself
Take a clinic with J. Woffard
    I'm sure there's more.

Rolex - check! Went and enjoyed it!

I wanted to try competitive trail riding again but my horse needs a banned drug every day and I can't take him off it long enough to compete.

We need to go to the Kentucky Derby. I'd also like to spend one day at Keeneland. Maybe a day at Ascot or Epsom? (Dreaming here!)

    Dude ranch in Wyoming....

    Ride in the ocean somewhere....

    I seriously need a nap.

I read the title as "Honey Bucket List". I wondered if people were making a list of where their favorite port-a-potties were.

    I did the same thing.

    Seriously though, I'd like to:
Learn to ride saddle seat (not to show level, but well enough)
    Learn to drive
Learn to ride sidesaddle well enough to complete a dressage test at a schooling show with a score comparable to astride
Complete a three-phase horse trial, even at beginner level
Play at team penning or sorting
    Deliver a foal
Go fox hunting (even just hilltopping)
    Write for an equestrian publication

I've seen the Kentucky Derby, I've cantered my horse on the beach and ridden him into the water, and I've ridden in Snowy River country, so that's three things checked off my list

    What else?
    do a safari on horseback
ride from castle to castle in Ireland
do a cattle drive on a superbly well-trained cow horse
RIP Victor... I'll miss you, you big galumph.

    Cut a cow
Do a backcountry multi-day trail ride
    Compete in competitive trail riding
Have my horse in my own backyard.

I want to go trail riding.....REAL trail riding, not the piddly little hills we have here in corn-belt Indiana.

I also want to ride in Ireland.....cannot wait to go in the future!

One of my professors had/has a fun item on his bucket list: Attend a national show of each major breed/type in the contiguous 48 states. He says he's got two more before he's done!
To be loved by a horse should fill us with awe, for we hath not deserved it.

A riding vacation in Ireland! With lots of riding.
Raise a foal and have a happy riding career with him/her. (Plan B is an Irish shopping trip instead of breeding a baby.)

I did the other already - horse shopping in Holland/Germany.
Also did a fair amount of riding in England.

I've done many of the things already listed:

Riding trips in Ireland (fabulous), Hungary, Portugal, Australia, Canada, Wyoming (8), Arizona, Missouri, Utah, Colorado.

Taken my horse riding and camping all over Fla, to Ga, Ky, Tenn, IL, and Indiana. Swam in many lakes and beaches, did the Cracker Ride where you ride across the state of Fla, Glades to Bay and Ocean to Lake Rides in Fla, attended many clinics, competed in variety of events (Games, western pleasure, halter, hunt seat), and took Dressage lessons. Rode up narrow trails to 12,000 where all you see is mountain range after mountain range (Rockies), ridden on slick rock in Utah in search of Ansazi dwellings.

Now own a gaited horse and have ridden a wide variety of breeds. Learned how to pack and drive a horse. Gosh there are sooo many things to learn with horses. Been to 2 Kentucky Derbies and 2 Breeders Cups at Gulfstream, and Gran Prix's in Wellington and one in Tampa. Fox hunted, trained 2 horses to ride, and many others to handle trails. Competed in three Obstacle Challenges and have herded cows bareback.

Delivered one foal which was a really neat experenice. Been riding for 48 years so there are lots of experiences. Ridden on the beach at least 12 times, swam in countless lakes, ridden in parades (boring), dived off my horses's back, and held on to the tail and got pulled along the shore (when we were all very lightweight). Took my TB out in a sandy farmer's field and just let him run. What an experieince that was...

I camp about 2 times a month from Oct - May and just went camping last weekend.

I guess some of the things I'd still like to do: ride a cutting horse, ride in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Guess I need to think up some new things to do with them

    I have...
Ridden my horse at the beach (up to her belly in the waves)
    Sorted cattle
Gone horse camping multiple times including several times in the Sierra Nevadas
Done our very first BN event
competed in trail classes at local schooling shows
Participated in Annual buffalo round up on Antelope Island in Utah
    Done several parades
    Drill team performance

Things remaining on my bucket list
    Hunt! My girl LOVES xc.
I'd like to do a horse vacation in Virginia (civil war battlefields)
Attend the Kentucky Derby and visit to the Kentucky horse park
    Gallop a TB
Raise a foal from my wonderful TB mare.
Compete up the levels in eventing (to training or prelim)
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of right now
