I teach reading/phonics (special education) and I always pronounced it COTH = MOTH as /o/ is a short sound when alone without an -e on the end (silent e rule) or when paired with another vowel in a vowel digraph (ex: oa - boat or ow - bow, since -w can change the sound of the vowel). The English language is full of exceptions though so ....
And that was probably WAY too much information for everyone.

It never occurred to me to pronouce COTH as a word! I have always said the letters C-O-T-H.
Not sure I'll ever look at the same now though...

This whole thread is incredibly COTHic. I love it. I'm going to find a way to use it in a sentence here at my COTH-naive (well, most of it) workplace.

COTH obviously, clearly, rhymes with moth.

This reminds me of the El Guapo speech that Lucky Day makes in the Three Amigos! movie.
"In a way, all of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be the *actual* El Guapo!"
PS - in writing and in my head its COTH, rhymes with BOTH. When I talk about it, it's The Chronicle Forums.
It may seem like I'm interested in what you're saying, but in my mind a bipedal wolf is chopping down a totem pole while yelling "BO-RING, BO-RING, BO-RING."

I read it as "moth" with a "c" but say it out loud as "coathe" and I have no idea why...

I was starting to think I was the ONLY one that says the letters instead of pronouncing it as a word!

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a total COTH n00b, what is AO?
If i smell like peppermint, I gave my horse treats.
If I smell like shampoo, I gave my horse a bath.
If I smell like manure, I tripped.
