I would say if I had to run one mile, I could probably do it in around 8-9. Don't ask me to string more than one together at that pace though, lol.
Interval training (CrossFit) has definitely helped a lot and I don't hate running with a passion like I used to.
Also, it is true about the treadmill-I can run much farther and faster on one versus being outside. If you're in an area that is safe and has reasonable weather year round, get off the machine! Running outside is so much better.
For me running is on an eliptical (w/out arms). I can't take the uneven terrain and pounding of true running. Right now, I run for 30 minutes a day. I do 3.5 to 3.8 depending on how everything comes together.
I have trained to get down to 6:40. That is the best I have done.
I average a 10 minute mile, but that's on the treadmill. I always run 3 miles at a time and for me, the first is the hardest and slowest, and I gradually increase my speed as I go along. So, I might start at 5.8 and end up at 6.4
I come from a total running family and group of friends, but I can't run!!
My best time was 8:05 (though this was through back pain, not fully in shape). So could not do that now. I am a decent sprinter though 6.73 seconds for a 50m. My dad however, pulled a 2:41 marathon.
I'm not running right now, but when I did a few years ago, I'd run 3-5 miles at a slightly over 10 min/mile pace. It was even slower than it sounds, as I have very long legs . I still walk about four miles in 45 minutes, most days, while hiking the dog through the woods.
