    Default Smash/Nashville (TV Shows)

Is anybody else a fan? It's so rare to see a musical on tv these days, I can hardly believe there are two non-reality shows on at once where people sing regularly.

I enjoy both of them. Smash seemed to get a little silly during the first season, but I will be interested to see what happens when the second season starts next week.

One good thing- these series about show business make people in the horse business look less crazy by comparison.

I like Nashville. Watched about 1 episode of Smash last year and deep sixed it.

However--there is also another interesting program (The Americans) that just started in that 10 pm slot on Wednesday, so now I'm torn. I know I can retrieve one and watch it on the computer later, but don't they just toss in extra commercials here and there?

Eh. I think the number of commercials is not that different.

I did see the first episode of The Americans. It did look interesting but I wonder if they will be able to maintain it.

LOVE both of these shows! And they gave "Smash" an overhaul. I got caught up watching them on Hulu.

Obsessed with Nashville, not usually a musical person either. I will check out The Americans too, love my DVR!

The funniest thing about Nashville to me is that the characters have these great folksy Southern accents, and it turns out some of the actors are not American at all. So when I see and hear them in interviews with their real accents, I do a big double take.

I LOVE Nashville! I am not a country music person AT ALL, but I've even downloaded some of the music from the show...

Agree about the actors and their accents! Sam Palladio (Gunnar) is British and Clare Bowen (Scarlett) is Australian! That definitely blew my mind a bit. So did the fact that Chip Esten who plays Deacon used to be a pretty regular person on Whose Line Is It Anyway.

I don't watch all that much TV but when I find a show I like I watch it religiously. Right now thats Castle, Nashville, Revenge, and when it comes back, Breaking Bad.

I love Nashville. My brother is a country musician in Nashville and tells me many of his musician friends consider the songs from the tv show to be better than some of the commercial country stuff being produced right now.

LJ, what does your brother think of the show? Realistic or not?
