I do better hand-writing when my mind is moving that quickly, I have my own version of shorthand that I used all through high school and college and it moves as quickly as my mind... Typing is just too one-dimensional and typos just feel wrong, can't draw arrows and my little spell-check symbols, ect...
Three subject college-ruled spiral notebook and a good pen, cup of coffee or glass of wine on the side, quiet house. Perfect storm.
I keep a recording device with me and just mumble out loud. I write "out loud" anyways, even if it's very, very quiet. I do my best writing while I'm driving; I then do my own transcription and editing once I get home. It took me a while to get used to, but it's made a huge difference!
Nine out of ten times, you'll get it wrong...but it's that tenth time that you get it right that makes all the difference.
