Laura Chapot at WEF
I heard that Laura got hurt in the schooling ring yesterday. Any truth to this? Any news?

Was at the jump right next to her. Believe she has a broken collar bone and pelvis. Horse flipped over a big oxer. Laura actually got up pretty fast for such a bad fall; but her horse stayed down a few minutes and was pretty gimpy when he got up. I hope they both have a speedy recovery.
When watching such talented riders such as Laura, and they make it look so effortless, it's easy to forget that horses and riders still make mistakes and there is not much room for error at that height.

Laura's a good horse woman and person in general but nothing about her riding style makes it look effortless. Have you not seen her ride? Anyway, hope she and Prince are ok.

Bummer. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
It may seem like I'm interested in what you're saying, but in my mind a bipedal wolf is chopping down a totem pole while yelling "BO-RING, BO-RING, BO-RING."

Aren't you just a ball of sunshine
BUT you are right, for Laura, effortless may not be the right word...more like animated, or enthusiastic.

Or terrifying. Seriously, nobody gallops down to the miss quite like her. It was only a matter of time before she flipped over something.
I wish her and her horse a speedy recovery, but I'm not going to pretend to be surprised.

Local gossip mill says 3 months bedrest. Perhaps we can persuade her to join the mob on COTH during her convalescence...

i hope she makes a speedy recovery. i read that article and the hardest part i find about getting injured is going from an extremely active person to a person that has to sit around and watch tv. it can get depressing! hopefully she will follow the drs advice and make a quick recovery. its so wonderful when the dr gives you the green light to ride again!

Resurrecting this thread real quick - I just got a Twitter update from @ESP_WEF that Laura and Umberto won the $2500 Derby Gold Shavings 1.35m today out of 31 entrants.
So I guess she's healed up and is back riding again!

I was amazed when I saw her in riding clothes at the ring yesterday. Obviously she got right back in the swing of things.
