Rolex tips, traditions? Tourist stuff? Stud farm tours? What to bring?
Four of us Canucks are going down to Rolex this year on a road trip. We are taking two days to drive down and will get there Wednesday during the day so will have a bit of extra time. It will probably be a one-time thing for most of us, so we want to get the most out of it possible. Can you share really fun things you have done at the event itself (special XC course walks given by BNTs, jogs, etc.) and in the Lexington area that we shouldn't miss?
I'm a big TB and racing fan so, right now, we're thinking of going to the workouts at Keeneland one morning, maybe breakfast at the track kitchen as well. I'd also like to tour some of the stud farms and should arrange something now. Anyone have any tips on that?
How about restaurants for good southern cooking? We get plenty of fancy French stuff up here, don't need that on our road trip.
I assume we'll be doing a lot of walking so good shoes/Wellies a must? What do people bring for cross county in terms of folding chairs, folding stools, blankets, etc.? Any other things we absolutely must bring? A cooler?
We'll stop in Virginia hunt country on the way back to do a tour of the tack stores, planning on staying in the Warrenton/Middleburg area. Recommendations for there would also be appreciated.
We are all starting to get really stoked about our trip.
Please check out the FAQ Sticky at the top of this Forum. There are several threads about Rolex and all manner of touristy things to do while you're here. Right now it is snowing to beat the band, but April will thankfully be a different story
