Does anyone know if an English version, or even a subtitled version of the new film Jappeloup is in the works? Here's a link to some information (there's a trailer there as well), but I can't see anything about other versions that might be released.
My 89 yo mother just called me... She just saw the movie and she LOVED it. And she is not a horsey person AT ALL. She went with a friend of hers who has never even approached a horse and both loved it. The theatre was full!! lots of cheers at the end!

I can't wait to see that movie! Jappeloup is my favorite Jumper ever. The little horse that could. I'll always remember when he stopped at a jump and dumped his rider (at some big competition, too, the LA games, was it?) and took off without a bridle. Feisty little thing. He and Galoubet were just so much FUN to watch.
Guillaume Canet, the actor who plays Durand in the movie was a Grand Prix rider before going into acting, and he did all the jumping in the movie himself.
But sheesh, Jacques Higelin is so old now! Man, time flies....
Frankly, Jappeloup's story reminds me of Hickstead... the little Canadian horse that could.. with the right rider!
My mom has listened to all the interviews, read everything she could on that movie. I can't believe it... I must admit I did not follow Jappeloup in real life at the time. That's when I was moving to Canada and had a few other things on my mind!
G. Canet went into acting because he was injured in a riding accident.
