Question Has anyone seen these vests?

They are advertised as tipperary vests but have no logos or tags. In reading the feedback at least one person said they are NOT tipperary vests.
Are these even legal? Would they be allowed at a competition? Could they be rejects or surplus from the factory? Seems shady.

Those products are OEM products, not of Tipperary brand, and sizes are different from those of Tipperary's . Please use the following sizing chart to pick the right size.

Ah. I missed that part. Very misleading to use Tipperary in the title.
    Are they legal?

In US eventing, your vest doesn't have to be certified, so anything is legal.

    2. PROTECTIVE VESTS.
    a. A body protecting vest must be worn warming-up for and in the cross-country test. Stable,
team or club colors are permitted. The Federation recommends that the vest should pass or
surpass the current ASTM standard F1937 or be certified by the Safety Equipment Institute.

    I missed this: recommends

I guess the question is would anyone on here wear one of these or recommend it to a student?

I would let my students wear one. Tipperarys are not certified either and I wear one.

There are a few people on this board that own them and I strongly considered buying one before I stumbled on a hardly used Tipperary in my size and color for $90.

There is a lot of disagreement about vest safety standards so most events do not require a certified vest. A few do though so check out your area.

Personally I don't like the Tipperarys and would be highly unlikely to want to buy a knock-off. But not only is there no rule stating one must wear an "approved" vest, nobody is ever going to check; at least IME dating back to the mid-1990s I have never had anyone in an official capacity so much as glance at or ask a question about my vest.
