Is lodging provided? If not, is it ok to only commit to one day? Any specific qualifications necessary? I am interested if you want to email me privately.

Nice of you to pay them...rated dressage shows in this area don't pay scribes.
Granted, your show isn't just dressage, but still, it's nice of you to pay them for their time.

Are you near Virginia Tech ? Maybe their equine studies students would welcome the chance...

If you could pay enough to make it worth while, I might be able to do it. I'm in NJ.

Do I have to wear pants, or can I go "Porky"?

(Seriously - I agree that paying scribes is a wonderful gesture. If I were in VA I might even pull out my hoochie shorts and sign up).

Unfortunately, for our shows, too many jobs that volunteers had once performed have become paid positions. We seem to have lost our volunteer base which goes hand in hand with declining memberships.

Well unfortunately, I just can't afford to volunteer. You may be losing people that way, too.

cj said they were paying ... tho, I would be surprised if anyone could do more than cover basic expenses (hotel, lunch).

Thanks for the horse center info and the responses from those not close enough to help.

I did get a response from a young lady that is willing to come help all four days and she even offered to help when not scribing.

Just commenting on the statement that they cannot get enough volunteers.

If I don't show I'll be more than happy to volunteer, but really hoping to be able to show this year. I'll spread the word though.

Glad you found someone. I love to scribe & love VA Horse Center - but am otherwise engaged that weekend, or would have PM'd.
