Hauling from Utah to VA...guestimate of cost?
I'm wondering what a horse hauling would run from Utah to Virginia.
Any ideas on what a reasonable hauling might cost? (decent hauling vs. grapes of wrath trek.

We have shipped from Alabama to Utah and back again with Bob Hubbard, and each time it was about $1500-1700. Price probably varies a bit depending on their route: Alabama was kind of out of the way, so you might actually get a better price going to Virginia.

Be sure to vet your potential choices carefully by looking at reviews and other stuff you can dig up. That's a very long haul and those are the trips that always have the most problems due to human error or carelessness by drivers.

My sister in law did exactly this haul about 6 years ago. I believe she said it was $1500-$1800 at that time. Don't remember which company she used, but on of the better known...with air ride. She was very pleased.

Go on line and find a city distance tool to calculate the mileage. Plan on $1 a mile as a ball park figure. Then ask for quotes on

This time of year is a bad time to be hauling through the midwest. Make sure whichever hauler you choose won't be hauling during storms.
And what do you buy out in Utah? New horse or new mule?

Astonishing though it may seem, we have quite a few nice horses out here, and we also tend to have most of our teeth.

Yeah about four years ago I got several quotes for from SF Bay Area to Charlotte, NC - about $2,600. Bound to have gone up since then.

Uh didn't OP have a mule as well as a horse? That's why we mentioned it.
And while we warmbloods haven't been to Utah, our owner has. Many times. And has ventured into the Great Salt Lake on a few occasions.

Yep, got a mule and a horse...going to be selling my horse (isn't a quiet enough guy to take Mrs. Trak. on buggy rides...a ball to drive and to ride/jump but I want/need quieter when taking her out).
