This one. I want this property soooooooo bad. Too bad I'm not rich! In all seriousness, this is what DH and I want to build for eventually (only a wider indoor per him). It would be easier to plunk down the cashola for something someone already went through the pain to build...but not as affordable
And this one would be a great fixer. Looks to me like someone got started on something similar to the above, and ran out of money. Too bad too, they obviously had some GREAT ideas. This is what my fear is, this happening to us. DH thankfully understands.
The HGTV House Hunters. What a bunch of sissies! Oh, it doesn't have granite, and stainless appliances, and obtw I have never cooked but want a gourmet kitchen.
Speaking from the gourmet pov, I do NOT want stainless. It scratches SO easy. Give me black appliances, or anything but ss. Granite, ummm I have quartz - much better, never ever will I have to treat/coat each year with a sealer.
Yes, I wanna see some farm people like us looking for homes.
I did see one show where a lady was all over herself about the resident chickens on site, and how she would love to have them. But she bought something other than the property with the chickens.
COME ON HGTV give us some shows with REAL PEOPLE, not pre-madonna sissies who do not even know how to paint a wall, or mow the grass. We have livestock lets see some shows on that!
I have horrible house/farm fever. I want something in BSF (big south fork) area. Murfreesboro, not close enough to trails. Mr. rmh_rider and I want to retire up there. Looking now, but nothing yet.
I'm looking now and really shouldn't . Our current house is on the market, and when it sells (and it will), we're going to rent for a bit to save a down payment and then buy horse property off the island. So right now I'm really looking more at rentals; DH wants to rent horse property and I don't, but even then we need rentals that accept two dogs, and possible has "RV parking" for the horse trailers!
I found one place that was on four acres, cross fenced for cows or horses..but says no pets! Uh?
I cannot get over the "have to have granite and SS appliances, for $150 000".. Prices seem so low though compared to Canadian prices. I see houses offered for $250 000 when, here they would be at least $400 000 without the appliances!
And I see large master bedrooms and hear "Oh but it's so small"... Come on, how much time do people really spend in master bedrooms?
I want to go on one of those shows (either House Hunter or Property Virgins) and be able to walk on the property, look at the outside and then tell the realtor if I am interested in looking at the house. I mean really - if the land, buildings, and layout won't work for the horses and equipment the house doesn't matter .
Who is currently renting a great little farm, 3.5 acres, up to 18 stall barn (a couple need work, but not interested in filling them anyway - only have 7 horses and the ox in the barn), plenty of storage. and a 1 bedroom house with W/D hookups all for ............. $800/month. Not interested in buying this place for several reasons - but it is a great rental.
I did find a rental that is exactly what you describe minus any barns or covered areas at all, some paddocks though... Might say "here ya go" to DH and keep boarding my boys! . But the price here (minus the barns, remember?) is still like $1400 I think? Yeah, Island living...
Here is another one I keep coming back to, the price is WAY too high and that's why it isn't selling. Plus, most likely the house is a dump, hence why there are no pictures. But I think the owners are thinking "land is worth $$$" when in reality, no bank will assign more value above 10 acres.
But the barn is cute, and I kinda like the idea of having a small barn for personal horses anyways . Have a place for the horses while building the other one. So it's in my favorites, and I keep checking for price drops...
I really consider House Hunters a comedy. I am so house-fevered up I watch the show. I want a much smaller house, closer to lots and lots and lots of trails, and no neighbors, or traffic I can hear when I cook out side. I cook alot, and I can stink up the house in no time flat. I want a hood that would suck horse fur off at 20'. BTW my horse is shedding big time right now. I have been cooking brussel sprouts in the house. OMG they are great, but got three candles going. I do tend to try to cook those outside, that and garlic.
The people are hilarious. Yeah, really, how big of a master do you really need? Increase your price by 200% and then you will still whine! OMG they may have to paint. Oh the horror of that.
OMG the germ-a-phobes. One guy wanted a house with a circular drive way. ?? Then there are those who want man-caves. (Isn't that the kitchen where the dirty dishes are??) One chick didn't want a house with trees because birds got in them and would chirp. ha ha.
I do think the funniest ones are the granite and ss. OH OH and OPEN KITCHEN type floor plan. Ok. So you want granite and ss, AND open kitchen. That person must not EVER cook. The smell of food goes everywhere, and it is so loud everywhere. Can't hear the tv or radio due to all the kitchen noise. Oh, there isn't noise in there house, only from the microwave. But at least they have ss, and granite. I have seen so many kitchens which are not useful, but those buyers want it because it has granite and ss. o.m.g.
Yeah, I want to see the property, and if it ain't up to what I want, I do not want to look at the house.
I pretty much have it down pat which house the househunters people will buy.
What a wonderful thread -- I'm still hoping to move from Colorado to the PNW, and often come across lots of places I'd love to buy, but can't afford. So here goes...Probably not everyone's idea of great luxury, but the place has to look warm/comfortable to my eye, to at least make it to the "wish list" (not that I could ever afford this one):
I said MAJOR, didn't I!?? But the inside of the barn is cute and workable, and oh man, the town is just so gorgeous....that price is about what you would pay for the land, so it would be worth buying just to tear down the old hay barn and the ugly house, and rebuild!
