    Default I lost Tally today

The Giant Pony had to be put down today. I am beyond devastated, primarily because of the circumstances.

Best guess is she coliced at some point late night/very early morning and got herself cast. She struggled so violently to get up that she just destroyed herself beyond repair. I have never seen such self inflicted gore in my life. The barn owners found her this morning when they went out to feed.

To top it off, my vet was in the middle of a procedure and couldn't come right away. I called a friend who is a cow doc, but forgot they were involved in a family function. Called another equine vet who shares back up with my vet on occassion, and luckily they were able to send an associate right away. She was wonderful and I'll need to send a thank you note.

Snuggled up on the couch with my Pugs tonight and just feeling numb at this point.

I was there when she was born, I was there when she died. Which I guess is how it should be.

So very sorry. We do all we can, but sometimes, there is just nothing that can be done, except that last hard, necessary thing. You have my sympathy.
