The cows have numbers pasted on their sides so probably penning or maybe sorting depending on the part of the arena we're looking at. But I'd love to see video, too!

And you certainly don't want to do a Goggle search for men riding sidesaddle!

Just because you said I oughtn't I did, but I didn't find anything interesting.

Oh, wait, found it. That was brilliant. The first picture was pretty good. Not safe for office viewing.

Actually, during the war, men rode sidesaddle when laying telegraph or telephone cables. They carried a cable reel and let it play out as they galloped along, sometimes under fire, and used the sidesaddle because it kept their leg from getting tangled up in the wire.

    Amputees sometimes would/will use sidesaddles.

I love threads like these where some really interesting stuff is posted and it shows how broad is the use of the horse through the ages and now.

Makes a change from the negativity - but I do love a good trainwreck now and then, or a really funny thread (need a few jokes about now!)

I've ridden sidesaddle, just in shows, not hunting or sorting - but it does offer a very secure seat as long as a person has strong legs and can grip....
