I always enjoy looking at the NV horses for adoption and thought this one was extra-cute. It might be kind of fun to tell people your show horse ran in the Kentucky Derby!

Maybe somebody can buy him now for $3,000, turn him into a nice show horse, and sell him for $200,000 again. Hey, you never know.

This was my first thought when I read the ad and looked at some of those pictures. Gorgeous horse, gorgeous mover, but I would be very surprised if he was anything but a pro ride.

Ooh la la!! I was also curious about the description "equally confident" rider needed! I try to read the bios before looking at the pictures because my common sense doesn't need an excuse to disappear! But good Lordy that horse is lovely looking!

The other thread mentions he was retired from racing due to a serious tendon injury. Wonder if it still bothers him at all and how long he would hold up jumping?

He looked sound in the videos, and there are some conflicting statements in the other thread regarding his injury. I posted his link because he seemed of unusual quality for an ottb/adoption horse. I'm sure they will be extra-careful in rehoming him. *Yes, he does seem like a real firecracker-experienced rider only!

I think sometimes these firecrackers thrive with the right rider. They dont always need a pro. I think he looks wonderfully athletic, and will be a great sport horse!!

Neat horse. Such a knowing eye-- like he has drinks with Supreme Court Justices on a regular basis or has tippy-top security clearance.

What do y'all see in that canter? It looks/sounds 4 beat to me. I don't get it. I like his trot better.

Canter is still a little stiffish to really evaluate-it is a new skill for him after all after years of running. I'm not willing to pass alot of judgements just yet. He is attractive enough (heck drop dead gorgeous) to make up for a little deficiency elsewhere. He might make a nice 3' horse with the right rider...not seeing a huge amount of step beyond that even with more work though. Nice project for somebody with the ability and knowledge to direct him. He does look like a pistol but the gal riding him is probably on par with alot of better Ammies and she is doing fine, not looking scared or anything. Maybe he took to the Affirmed side besides just the color.

NV does a great job in selecting, prepping and being honest about what they offer. Nice to see this stakes horse has gone to a good place after outliving his track and stud usefullness.

Yeah, some of the pictures of his trot makes me think he can move more uphill than we see in the canter. But he looks relaxed and the rider doesn't look like she's *obviously* letting him cruise along with kid gloves. So I can't tell how much of that flat canter is "all he has."

And IME, this kind of canter-- lacking a moment of suspension-- makes finding distances tough.

This boy screams dressage rather than hunter/jumper to me. If I was a more experienced rider and in a position to have my own horse, I would be seriously interested in him. Alas, my timing and skills both need work.
