    Default Foaling camera help needed

We have a bit of a dilemma this year. We have a couple of foals expected in February. Usually we foal them in run in sheds right next to my house and I have a great set up with wired cameras. BUT, it is going to be too cold so we will have to foal them in the "real" barn, which is about 600 feet from my house.

Is there such a thing as a wireless camera with that kind of range? What about the set ups that you can monitor on a smart phone? Would you need to have a computer/internet in the barn? We don't, and of course the barn is steel.

Or do I need to just sleep in the barn?

wireless way expensive for that distance, and you need an unobstructed line of sight. what I do is run a 300 foot line on top of the ground out to my barn--so I am wired. you can get longer lines, and even plug two 300 footers together (remember if it measures a true 600 foot, then you will need something a bit longer to go up the walls, or whatever at both ends). then after foaling just roll them up and put them away until next time.

We just bought (but have not yet installed) the wireless system found on this site Equipment looks pretty professional. They have an extended range system as well. Also offer a DVR that allows remote viewing on line or a link to marestare.
