Default Need Show Name for Cute Bay Mare with Chrome! (Pics!)

My friend is having a heck of a time coming up with a name for her new horse.

The mare is 6 years old, previously did hunters and will be introduced to eventing this year! She is light and feminine, has a sweet personality, and came with the barn name "Lilly".

Show name doesn't necessarily need to include the word Lilly, nor does it need to be flower-related. She is more concerned about something that fits her sweet but sensitive personality.

    Thanks in advance!

Every one of them had that look of a girl infatuated with horses, the happy, fated look of a passenger setting sail on the Titanic.

I've been tending toward drink names recently, but some thoughts:

    Lillet Rose http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1605867.html
    Sweet Lucy http://www.drinkupny.com/Prichards_S...ur_p/s0499.htm
    Sweet Adeline http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Adeline
Aiglentina (although it would probably be mispronounced often) http://bbnames.com/meaning_of_name_Aiglentina.php
    Dulcinea (Spanish for sweet)
Melisenda (also a Spanish name meaning Sweet)

Which I really like, but there are already several registered with the USEA with that name. I try to check and not use duplicates when coming up with a name.

Can you tell us more about your friend? Some personality traits, music preference, etc. Need a little more to work with (lots of great horse names to "match" their people )

    The mare is adorable!

I personally love using names that are either based off of ancient complex societies or drawn from them. From common ones like Egypt, Greece and Rome, to places like Harappa, Sumer, Persia, Assyria, Babylon, and Akkad. I also like to drawn names from pieces of ancient artwork, such as Lady of Auxerre or Doryphoros. Ancient rulers or significant figures is another one I use too.

Hey friend, here are a few random ideas!

    Lilith Fair
    Sweet Lillybee (google it, hehehe)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilium has lots of names for all the different flowers in the lily family, such as tiger lily, Alpine Lily, or Swamp lily

The name that popped into my head from your description is Covergirl. (Easy, breezy, beautiful)!

How about using "Li'l" as a prefix for something like -

    Li'l E
    Li'l Gem
    Li'l Socks
    Li'l Delight
    Li'l Prize
    Li'l Treat
    Li'l Love
    Li'l Tiger
    Li'l Treasure

    ?

How about Lady Clairol? I gleaned that name from an episode of The Nanny. LOL.
