Hey, has anyone took the chance and clipped some cool designs on their horses/ponies? I've seen the generic ones all over google, but what have you guys done? I've been toying with the idea of clipping my horse's brand (Hungarian Warmblood) on his hindquarters, but not sure how i'd go about it. Do you use a stencil? Do you use smaller blades?

The only thing I've ever done is clipped my mare's name into her hindquarters. So not so unique. But I used a piece of chalk on her and just traced an outline. And I used a small clipper, something like this: http://www.statelinetack.com/item/wa...mer/SLT901292/

However it was when she had no winter fuzzies and I wouldn't use something like that for a larger area of clipping like I think you are talking about.

I've never done anything elaborate but every time I've done anything I've used chalk to draw an outline or my lines to clip on... I guess you could make a stencil if you want but that would only work for chalking it really. You can't clip properly with a stencil on there.

I ordered stencils from Twinkle or Twinkle Toes or whatever the horsey glitter company is called. I used medium-sized clippers... not body clippers, but not itty bitty clippers either.

The more subtle type im going for, i'm definetly not skilled enough to attempt the first one haha :P

I saw a really nice picture of a clipped horse that had a single heart on it's neck. It really looked sharp and I also like a single star or "something" on the hind quarters. I think the picture with the heart was here but I can not locate it now.

Back when I leased my horse I came out to the barn one day and found that the owner had clipped a heart into her butt. At first I was mortified, but then it grew on me. I've always wanted to do it again but never did, maybe this winter!

Last year when I had my mare clipped the girl that clipped her for me did a heart on her butt. Very cute!

The first round of body clipping, one pony got a pair of angel wings on one side (Oh the irony..) and a heart on the other.

Another pony got a heart with his initial inside of it (super cute!).

My horse got an arrow on one side (looked awesome!) and I tried to do a bulls-eye on the other side, but failed lol.

WOW! Talented! I'm planning on doing a martini glass on my other horse next time I body clip him. The kicker is, his name is from a James Bond movie.

My horse got a Superman type logo on his chest a couple of times. I've done hearts several times in the clipped stripe of a trace clip, a four leaf clover and a maple leaf. I use the little clippers with a length guard and start by shortening the hair in the area I'm going to do the design, then take the guard off and clip the design. The rest of the trace clip is done with big clippers - I just leave a patch unclipped where the design is going to be.

My horse is a 17.3hh Irish Sporthorse, commonly called Elephant around the farm just due to his pure size. I used to body clip him leaving just an elephant. I'd then take bluing agent and color the elephant blue since our colors are royal blue and silver. Everyone at the barn LOVED it!

There's a pic making the rounds on facebook of a giraffe pattern. Can't do facebook from work, so can't share it right now. Last year I had two ponies to clip, did a Superman logo on Sassy's butt, and my daughter's initials on her pony, AS, which also stood for her team - Aftershock.

Very talented clippers you are

My Big Guy has a brand on each shoulder - his breeder's farm initials on the left, the year he was born and 5 over 4 for 1994, 5th colt born - on the right.
Both stand out when he's fuzzy and can be seen when he's sleek.
I'd like to clip an outline of Australia (where he was bred) on his butt.

For my pony, a devils' trident would make a good PSA.

Time to sharpen the blades and lube the clippers.....
