anyone try flavoring horse feed with starbucks syrup?
mare is giving us a hard time about eating her supplement (it smells like cardamom seed). i was thinking of trying to mask the smell with starbucks peppermint syrup. i've been told it's watery enough so it mixes easily and coats well.
any experience with that?

I've used Torani sugar-free peppermint syrup as a top dressing for feed when my horse was on pro-bios short term and refused to eat her "tainted" feed. It is less viscous than something like pancake syrup and worked like a charm. I'd guess the Starbucks syrup is similar in consistency and performance.

One of my friends has great luck with the huckleberry and boysenberry torani syrup flavors for her picky horse. My pony loves beer and has not yet had to eat something that his not his liking for more than a couple of days, so usually I go that route with him!

Uckele actually makes and markets that sort of thing for equines:

Although I doubt they're really any different than coffee syrups.

The Uckele flavourings are sugar free though.

Here you go, sugar free, all kinds of flavors including peppermint, and I am sure its cheaper than Starbucks! $5.77 for 25 onces.

I wouldn't feed my horse Splenda, aspartame and other sugar free crud. Just go for the natural 'sugary' variety of syrup.

Why not get the best?
www.monin.com has great syrups. I've been using them and recommending them to others for several years.

thanks everyone!
i'm going to go shopping this weekend and then let miss mare sample, see what she likes best. the supplement has little to no flavor that i can discern. it's the smell that bothers her the most so hopefully this will do the trick.
