Default Young Event Horse Grant of 15K offered to 5 year old champ for European competition.

Forgive me if I'm waaay behind.
I tried to use the search -but since COTH has changed formats I can't seem to search anything successfully. So I'm not sure if this has been discussed.

I read something about a YEH Grant. It feels like a dream now because I've slept a few times since I found the article. No idea where I read the info.

    details:
I seem to remember it being for USA bred horse only.
Awarded to the east and west coast champion 5 year olds.
15K to be used towards going to Europe to compete in their 6/7 year old CCI*/** (respectively).

    Did I read correctly?

I think that's fairly impressive and lovely of the USEA.
    I'm sorry I don't have more info.
Thank you so much to whom ever started and continues to donate this grant.

    very cool indeed.

Not only USA bred, but if imported I think the $$$ goes down to 7k instead of 15K.

I believe the news was broken during the convention, and you might find it in a COTH article covering it?

So this is kind of a big deal.
Do you think more people will try to do the YEH competitions now?

Oh, yes, that's an issue, the scarcity of YEH competitions. And my horses are in Southern Pines, not in some far-flung eventing desert.

There are exactly two YEHs in reasonable distance this year -- the Fork and Waredaca (which isn't really reasonable). Last year, we also had two to choose from, at the Ark. Unfortunately, we had to scratch our very suitable 4YO YEH -- who is now subk's 5YO -- from both, due to injuries to other horses at home on the mornings of those competition.

This year, we have a new 5YO, who is also a YEH type, and we're making these competitions a goal for him.

Le Lion is a nice thought but a damn testing track. I've never had a 6 or 7 YO who's ready for that tough a test, even if it was well within their athletic ability. But who wouldn't want to have a horse there?
