    stand your ground--no QH papers, no WB papers. Meet out in the open with lots of people around--have someone you know/trust as your witness with you. Exchange papers if she shows you the QH paperwork. If she has no paperwork, then walk away with yours still in hand. Above all, maintain your dignity.

    Dignity is still firmly in hand, along with the papers, and now the WB mare herself.

    Vet results were inconclusive without going on a lameness hunting expedition, so we elected to put her on vacation for the rest of the winter and a re-eval if it either doesn't go away, or gets worse.

    She does seem happy to be home. Oddly enough, she's the lowest man on the totem pole now, even below the young'un.
