That is so awesome. And I want some. I want some breeches of integrity, just to be part of that trend.

Does SmartPak carry Breeches of Integrity?
I always felt that I HAD breeches of integrity, why would anyone have disreputable breeches ?

This thread made me curious, so I went and looked up the records of someone local I know who rides racehorses in the mornings, and they have many amateur points at Prelim, and were topping the local standings in amateur points at that level. Does recieving money for a different sport- racehorses, make a professional? Cause it sure as H@ll makes her a better rider! LOL

That's not the sort of breach I was talking about, let alone the right side of my britches.

Sorry, no insult intended. Just quoting Shakespeare, Henry V (man of integrity.)

I view myself as an amateur. I'm lucky if I get to ride a couple times a week, have not yet competed above novice, and have no desire to become a pro. I work full time in the horse industry though, as an equine vet tech.... There is no riding associated with my job, just handling on the ground. This doesn't make me a pro does it?

Well, Kevin Keane is an amateur (at least he is on the leader board, FWIW) so i would suspect not.

No, vets and vet techs are amateurs as far as the job they do. You are not getting paid to train, teach or ride, nor are you getting sponsorships. While the actual rules are ridiculously annoying and complex, to me if you can say with straight face, you gain no monetary or competition related benefit from training, teaching or riding, you are probably an amateur. I declared as a pro a couple years ago when I was teaching sessions on rules and judging schooling shows in exchange for a few lessons (proabably a total of $250 worth). It has nothing to do with the fact that I have a 50 hour+ a week day job and am a crappy rider.
OTTBs rule, but spots are good too!

Yes, it is important you not laugh while stating your status .
