    Question Merriwood Ranch, Garland TX

This barn is really close to my work and I'd never heard of it until today. I'm wondering whether it's worth checking out. I am looking for a good trainer to fill the holes in my education, and a horse to lease. Does anyone have any experience with this place?

I feel like my barn search is never ending, gah...

It will have an adverse effect and broaden the gaps in your education, rather than fill them in. Their bad reputation is long-standing...like since I was a 2' kid at the local shows 15 years ago (ugh...I feel old now.)

Great. I knew a barn ten minutes from my work had to be too good to be true!

Ha, it's funny you say that because I hadn't heard the name Merriwood since I was doing the 2' on the NTHJC circuit 15 years ago.

Yeah, I went to Merriwood day camp as a kid, and fell in love with a horse named Bando. In 1965 maybe.

Others here have given better suggestions I'm sure. Not that I've ridden at Merriwood but it's a lesson mill type barn. Having said that, they've always been nice to me at horse shows and are very respectful.

But if you're looking to fill some gaps, you can travel further out to say Wylie (Becky Sanoja with Bryherstone comes to mind) and she'll fill your gaps in and then some. And currently has a very nice horse for lease too!

HRF, great minds think alike, that was my suggestion via PM as well.

I luff her. She's awesome. And the best in that area IMO. And one of the best in North Texas.
