Founder her lying on the ground, bloody and out of it. Took her to the vet and she is now cleaned up, on antibiotics and on "house arrest". She's eating, and much perkier than yesterday. Question...how long can we not eat her eggs after she finishes her antibiotics?
While I'd definitely check with your vet, all of the over-the-counter meds I've used for chickens advise a minimum of 14 days after complete cessation of the medication (or wormer) before you can safely eat the eggs of treated chickens. But again - I'd double-check with your vet.
She's on Baytril and the vet said she would look it up. She's definitely NOT going back with them. Another hen was attacked a few months ago so I went to petco and bought a cheep little coop for about 2-4 birds. The plan was to put the two "attacked" birds together in the small coop. That is of course, assuming I can adjust her to life outside my house.
I am sure she will adjust. We had one that spent the winter in the house, and spring hit and she couldnt wait to go back out. It was harder on me than her by far. I just worry so, about my little babes. That and I rather liked having a chicken in the house.
