Default Rider Test Symposium with Hilda Gurney

There's a great educational opportunity coming up THIS weekend - Saturday, January 19th, 2013 - the Dressage Association of Southern California (DASC) is presenting a very special opportunity to review the new Rider Tests with Hilda Gurney and a variety of demo riders. The symposium will be held at El Sueno Equestrian Center in Somis, CA ( Just north of Los Angeles, in Ventura County).

Hilda will cover the tests with multiple demo riders at Training, First and Second Levels and the auditor fee is $25. Some seating is provided, but it's recommended that you bring a chair. The first ride will start at approximately 9am (Training Level).

Looks like a great symposium. Will it be available on Youtube?

I don't know. I imagine it would be up to Hilda, the participants and the symposium organizer to determine if they wanted to do that and give express permission.

I rode in this and it was very helpful.

First of all, the tests are MUCH harder than the typical tests at the level. I found it very helpful to have Hilda give commentary while I was riding, and point out how I could handle some aspects better. The discussion on scoring afterwards was also interesting, with different auditors giving their score for a section and explaining why.

Even though I let my fear get the best of me (first time out in almost a year) and didn't ride at anywhere NEAR our full potential, I still got a lot out of it. She commented on a couple of position issues that I'll definitely be focusing on in the next few weeks.
