Did Google run over a donkey in Botswana?
Gotta love the non-horsey explanation of the pictures:

Hm. The evidence suggests a sad end for the donkey.
However -- I worked for several years with a team doing research in Botswana, and they said that there were donkeys *everywhere*, and if they were laying down in the road, they wouldn't get up just because a car came along.

If you look at one of the links in the comments you can view the google maps of the donkey and it really appears to be rolling, rather than hit by the car. It even seems to roll over onto it's other side (though by that time the care is fairly far away so it's a bit hard to see)

I think, when looking at the marks in the ground and the picture of the dust, the donkey was just rolling.

Another vote for rolling. Donkeys do that, you know?

Definitely looks like a roll to me. The leg positioning and the two different positions in the pictures suggest a donkey enjoying a roll in a dusty spot....not a dead one. Bambi, however, definitely looks dead.

The outrage kind of bothers me. People hit deer ALL THE TIME in rural locations (not sure about donkeys...maybe that happens...I don't live in an area with a lot of loose donkeys). I mean, sure, Google should probably edit it out, but...isn't that a fact of life?
