    Default Coats for doneys

I'm not really finding any info on this but figured someone has probably ran into this before. Yearling blankets don't fit him, too long in the front and too short on the butt.

This company makes coats for both dogs and goats. Perhaps something will work for your donkey?

IF you have a mini donkey, I like Ozark Mountain. Online at MiniTack.com

Pony blankets fit my donkey well. Here's the most recent picture of her in her rain sheet: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=1&theater

I have Amigo and also Horze blankets for her. She takes a 60".

We use pony ones too, for example:

The neck covers tend to be too long and have to be folded back, but they pony ones fit ours well. I believe, like SMF11, that boy is in a 60, and our other donkey wears a 64. I believe. I'd have to go look when we ordered it. We ordered the "JR" line from sstack.com

My donkey wears a size 63 in Horseware blankets and they fit him nicely.

Your donkey must be much larger than mine, as he wears a 52".

Unfortunately all of those brands aren't big enough to fit his butt. Any suggestions on other brands that may fit? Or has anyone used this http://www.onestopequineshop.com/Tuf...t_p_12678.html ?

Okay, I went looking again, and here is a site for blankets for donkeys. Maybe it will help.

Here is an older COTH thread that has a few ideas in it as well.

How cold does it have to get to blanket a donkey? All ours around here like to wear ice blankets, even when there is shelter close.

    we got these for ours

The way I understand it with donkeys is: if they are dry they are fine. but, if they get wet AND cold, they can become compromised quickly. they are normally desert animals and dont have that protective fur against their skin to keep them dry... mine usually dont need their blankets just for the cold, but, if it snows or rains under 40 degrees, we blanket them

My donkey has a Smart Pink pony blanket. Size 63 (I think). Necks on other blankets were too tight. This has deep shoulder vents, too. It is a little long on the sides. And I had to take leg straps off because they hook at the bottom of the blanket and were too low. She wore it for the last week with no problem during our No Va cold snap. And pink is stunning on her white body!
