What are the chances that a horse posted on the trainer listings from CANTER NE is still available? I'm dying to call on Risk it All For Me, but I have to get one sold before I waste a trainer's time calling on him. Luckily I've had a few bites on my horse who really wants to be a lesson horse, or dressage pony, so hopefully he will find a new home and I can go get this gelding. I've done a few off the track, but never one that's raced this long, but his race record looks really consistant, so hopefully he's pretty sound! Wish me luck that my other horse will find his "right"home and I can go get this guy, I just hope he is still around!
Well it all worked out!!! Found an appropriate home for the sale horse so I could go get this canter cutie from New England!! Risk it all For Me came home on Sunday. He settled right in, we've started some ground work and lucky me he already knew how to lunge like a show horse wtc both directions. The massage therapist came out and was impressed with what good shape he was in for just finishing racing late October, and commented that he must have been very well managed. His connections had him from 3-8yrs old and obviously did a great job with him. He is clean legged, sound minded, and well loved. I'm so thankful for people in the race industry who love their horses, and do the best they can by them.
He is a lovely type and what a smart eye he has on him. That is a face that I would enjoy seeing over the stall door every morning. Congrats! I am huge fan of the older racehorses that have been there and done that. They really are very easy to transition (in my opinion) into new careers.
Did you get him from Pete C? I got a CANTER NE listed horse from him about five years ago and we adore him. It was obvious that Pete really cares for his horses. Pete had taken ours out hacking on the farm in the off season, so the retraining process was much simpler.

It was Pete C, well actually his mother, Donna. He was on her farm and she took perfect care of him, I have a lot to live up to as far as his daily care! I spoke to Pete who said that he had ridden him in western tack, so I think retraining won't be too bad. They seem like a very good horse family, I wish more people like them got publicity instead of all the negative!
