Short story: Horse is very small and is placed with rider (to get sold). Owner has placed in 1,40 and new rider places in 1,50. Rider decides with owners dad to see if horse is not pony since it´s really small and pony much more valuable than really small horse here in Europe. Rider goes to official in charge of FEI measurement and voila - the worlds greatest pony " La Luna" is now the most sought after pony in northern Europe, measured at 1,48!

Fantastic that such a small horse can handle 1,50 classes so easily!

I converted 1.48m to inches and got 58.2
Then divided 58.2 by 4 (4 inches in a hand) and got 14 and a half which would be 14.2 HH.

That things got springs!

Yup it´s a Lordanos! This mare is registered oldenburg.

And the grandfather is a stallion called Philister (Pilot), so no Shetlands as far as one can see ;-).

The max height for ponies is 1,48 both in Sweden and FEI rules. 14.2 HH sounds right. It sure does have springs!

I just read that the father of the owner is trying to get a renowned ponyjumper to qualify this mare for the Europeans this summer! And as he say - "No way La Luna wouldn´t win it"... :-)

Makes you seriously wonder why in N. America kids only show pony's upto 3ft (if they're lucky) and why on earth they don't have pony classes for more advanced riders (adults included) that get nice big fences!

Man, that pony saw it's take off spot ten strides out and said "Hang on, I GOT THIS" over every jump. Reminds me of the time I was horseless and desperate for anything to ride in the jumpers for our local kick off show. What I got was a large pony, and a BLAST winning the 3'6. She saved my BUTT.

You would have to wonder will it struggle at top European level when it has to jump off shorter striding patterns than it currently is in horse classes. It's currently going off a forward shot at every fence yet with shorter distances in combinations and related distances it will have to come a little quieter...
