Default Taking care of the furry ones after we're gone

DH and I are in the process of getting our wills done. Since I don't have my own horse at the moment, I want to at least do something to help out a horse rescue, or something similar. If it were concerning my own animals, I would of course leave the appropriate money and stipulations to make sure they were well taken care of. But, since this is jsut a general idea, I don't really know where to start. Has anyone ever alloted some money to go towards a random group or rescue? How do you pick? I'm not personally involved with anything local, so no sentimental attachments. Would you just leave a lump sum to a big, national thing?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

If you're going to leave to a national group, just check them out thoroughly first. Canter comes to mind as a possible.
